57th and 5th...

So, Sunday night, my boy and I wanted to drive into the city to go to the Apple store to buy his uncle a Macbook Pro. We started it out in Queens. We didn't know the exact address for the Apple Store, but I knew it was on 5th Ave and where Central Park starts which is 57th, so I typed in that intersection into the GPS and put in New York as the city. This freakin' GPS takes us into Brooklyn through Linden and Flatbush. It was so out of the way haha. But it was cool. I ended up putting in the same intersection, but entered Manhattan as the city. I didn't know anybody referred to it as that. Usually New York, New York refers to the city. Anyway, there's too many things to talk about, so I'll let the few pictures I took sum it up. I miss it already.

This is a little pizza shop in Forest Hills called Lillian's. It's named after the owner's wife. Samer has been going here his whole life. We went here last time, too. We both got the chicken parmesan sandwich. Thanks to Jules (Samer's uncle) for buying us our food.

After we ate, Samer went with his uncle and cousins to their house to kick it. I was alone until 7 PM. I still had to go to mass at 6 PM in Forest Hills. I think we parted at like 3 PM, which left me with 4 hours to do whatever. I decided to drive down to Brooklyn. These grafitti pictures probably look familiar to those of you who saw my blog from 5-6 months back. I used Google maps' street view to see this. It was crazy being there again and just walking down this block.

This church is on the same block as my house and the graffiti wall. I parked in the parking lot of the church. If I looked right, the church was there and if I looked left, it was my old house (2 pictures down).

My family took up the majority of the second floor except for that window on the far right. That was somebody else's portion of the second floor.

Apple store on 57th and 5th. We drove up here with no parking problems because it was a Sunday night. It's crazy that this place is 24 hours. I heard Wendel was in town, so I'm surprised I didn't run into him here haha.

F.A.O. Schwarz right next door to the Apple store. Obviously, it was closed already.

After buying Samer's uncle a Macbook Pro, we got hungry. Midtown was full of retail stores and not really any food places. So, I called Nikki and asked her to see where the closest Gray's Papaya was. It was 50 blocks south of where we were. This Gray's is on 6th and 8th. Samer and I both got the two hot dogs and a drink combo for $4.25. Right when we got back to my car though, this guy was like, "Yo, do you have jumper cables?" I ended up having it in my truck, so I whipped a U-turn on a one way street to jump his car. His girlfriend kept saying that she definitely needs to invest in jumper cables since that was the second time it had happened to her Lexus SUV. It was cool helping them though. But by the time I was done, my hot dogs were semi-cold. So, we went back for seconds.

Shot of my car parked on 6th.

The next morning, Samer and I parted ways right away. He left his grandma's house to go with his uncle to his VW dealership. I ended up taking the subway from Erickson's to Jollibee's. The Jollibee's is on Roosevelt and 63rd. If anyone ever goes, go to Rego Park, find parking, take the 63rd Drive-Rego Park subway towards Manhattan, take the R train, then get off at the 65 St stop.... or you can go straight to Jollibees, but parking is terrible there. There was no line at all on Monday. We tried going on Sunday, but the line was down the block. They're open basically 8-8 everyday. I got 1 Yum Burger, and 1 box of Spaghetti and Chicken Joy. Bomb!

After the Jollibee's, I went to Niketown to kill time before meeting up. This was their Jordan selection. Terrible. I loved the 5th floor with the Nike Lifestyle stuff though. Great clothes and shoes.

For Ivan.

Bad grammar. "Cared"* Geez, Lebron.

This employee saw me wearing my III's, so we chopped it up about shoes for a while. Then another employee came by, and I talked to him for a while, too.

Nike ID Studio on the 5th floor. They had these double doors to the right where you could go in and pick materials and really customize your shoes. Sick stuff.

All Day.

These three pics were the outside and inside of St. Thomas church. I went in there, and they were saying the Our Father. So, I prayed along with them along with praying for like 10 minutes after they were done.. I was like, "Hmmm, where's the Holy water?" It turns out it was an Episcopalian church. Haha. Oh well. I did some research and it seems like the only difference worth mentioning besides Catholics and Anglicans/Episcopalians is who is in charge. Catholics have the pope, while Anglicans have more spread out authority. Mostly everything else is the same though... the Nicene Creed, Apostles Creed, calendar of saints, the rosary, shrines for Mary, the Bible, etc.

Jollibee, Here I Come...

I'll be in NY on the 9th and the 10th with Samer and/or Anthony. I hope to come back to VA bearing gifts of Chicken Joy and whatever the names for their sandwiches are. I can't wait.

Logitech Webcam...

My family is eons behind as far as technology goes. Hell, we've always been. We didn't get cable connection/modem/whatever you call it until 2006. We didn't get a flatscreen monitor until this year. So yeah, don't be surprised at all that nobody here has a mac or a decent webcam haha. So yeah, don't hate on these grainy ass pictures!

After weeks of being sick, I've finally been well. I got to hold Jayden this past Saturday, but I got to hold her again tonight. So, I put this webcam to use. It's actually my oldest brother and sister-in-law's. Their lappy broke, so they just installed the webcam on here this past Monday I think. Anyway, here's a few pics of me carrying the cutest niece ever with my mom in the background trying to make her smile haha. Videos will be up in a bit.

Yawning.

Resting.

Smiling.

James Flight White...

Like I said in my away message a couple of weeks ago, the NBDL dunk contest >>>> NBA dunk contest. Here was some footage of James White. I hope an NBA team picks him up that's in need of some athleticism. Perhaps the Suns go run up and down the court. I mean what is there to lose? They'll probably get more fans to go to games if anything. Thanks to DraftExpress for the videos.

Oh yeah, I can't leave a dunking post without posting a highlights mix of the best dunker of all time: VC. Some may call him Half-Man, Half-A-Season, but to me, he's still Half-Man, Half-Amazing. Click on the video so that it opens up in its own tab/window. Then you can watch the HD version. "Did you seeeeeeeeeeeee.... Veeeeee Ceeeeeeeeeeee?"

imeem....

There's an imeem player at the bottom of the page now. --EDIT: It's on the right now.-- Thanks to Labson for putting me up on how to add that crap. I suck with codes and what not. Anyway, at first it was just a bunch of 90's hip-hop, but I eventually added some recent hip-hop (mostly 'Ye) and some other stuff I love like Mraz, JJ, and Lykke. Let me know if it works! Kiesha told me at a certain point it was just playing 30 seconds of some songs. She said to just fiddle with that little button next to the 'repeat' and 'shuffle' buttons. Enjoy!

Oh yeah, Happy Ash Wednesday! Lent is upon us.

I guess I'll think about what things I'm giving up and taking up tomorrow. Hopefully, I can catch a mass time.

Inside the Actor's Studio...

I've been watching these all day... These are a couple of my favorites. Dave speaks some real stuff at the end. Watch it if you got some time along with the rest of the interviews. Great way to kill time.

This one with Conan was great, too. I learned a bunch of things I never knew about him... like how he went to Harvard and how he was a writer for the Simpsons for a little while.

Happy Birthday, Dad...

Thanks for everything. I love you. I wish I can say that to you in person, but that's not how our relationship is built. May God bless you with many more years of health and happiness. I promise I'll finish school soon so you and mom can finally retire in the Philippines.

1/2 Cents... New Home... Drake

I'm sorry, Lil' Penny. I'll have to pass on you. I'm very sad about this. I gotta save up for California. I'll get you one day : /

My oldest brother and his wife finally got their house. There's a lake in the back... finished basement... 3 or 4 bedrooms. I'm very happy for them. The kids can finally roam around and not get in trouble for it haha. I'll miss them. I admit, I was happy at first because I could finally got some peace and quiet. But then I realized it's pretty sad actually. I'll really miss their hugs and running and yelling and stinky smells. With that said, they're moving about 2 minutes away.

I decided to give this dude Drake a listen. I've heard a lot of hype about him... as well as read a lot of hype. Thanks to my old high school friend Mike Redmond for hooking me up with a link. Dude is not bad at all. I'm pretty much feeling each track. I love the remix with Lykke Li for "Little Bit" since that's my girl and all. My favorite song is definitely "Best I Ever Had."

Farewell, Jett Favre...

It was fun while it lasted. Green Bay had it good for 16 years or however long he was on there after he played for Atlanta. Your efforts were appreciated. I still remember the tingling sensation I got in the first game of the season against Miami when he just threw the ball up. Anyway, I hope the Jets can draft a promising QB. Our late-season collapse still makes my heart ache.

Good Saturday....

I had a pretty good Saturday today. I haven't had a laid back Saturday all to myself like this in a long time. Usually, I get caught up with doing something for the youth. There was a household today, but I didn't go. I just really really really needed this break for once... with all the stuff going on that select people know about. I've just been annoyed with a couple of people this past week, so I chose not to return any calls or texts regarding some things. Monday to Friday is for school. Everything else is put off for the weekend.

So yeah, today. I left my house at around 11:20 to try and get to MD by 12 noon to play football at Accokeek East. I got there by 12:15. Unfortunately, nobody came but Joe and Nikki. So, we ran around, did laps, and exercised just so we wouldn't waste the good weather and the good company. We chatted it up on a bench for a while in the nice combination of breeze and sunshine. Some old ladies were doing laps with their dogs. Each old lady that passed us was so polite. It made me smile that people still ask how others are doing even if they're strangers... because some people I know don't even ask me how I'm doing. They go straight to business.

Anyway, we got done running and chatting by 2:00. Then, we went back to Joe's house so he could get his wallet. We went to Wendy's to eat breakfast/lunch. Nikki and I tried out their new fish sandwich. It was really good. I don't know if it was better with cheese or not. I added cheese, but Nikki didn't. I just know it was really good dipped in sweet and sour sauce. After eating, we went to confession at St. Mary's. That was very uplifting. I hadn't gone to confession in about 3-4 weeks... which is my longest drought in a whiiiiiiiile. I usually go every week... and sometimes on the weekdays too if Alan or Kiesha are invitive. The priest there was awesome. I was in there for about 10 minutes. I've never been inside a confession room for that long before. He really internalized my sins, analyzed them, and then gave me feedback and advice. It was really great. I would drive to MD just for that type of confession each week. But yeah, after that, we went back to Joe's house. I told him and Nik that I just wanted to chill outside and sit on the porch. We chatted about random things again until it got a little bit too cold. I was mad sleepy, so I took a nap on the couch. Alan eventually arrived. Then we all got hungry and went to Osaka. I drove of course haha. Our meals were great as usual. Man, I love Osaka! Miso soup, salad with ginger sauce, salmon skill rolls, dinner boxes, hot tea.

Then yeah, we paid the tab and headed back to Joe's house. I'm glad I had my 90's hip-hop mp3 CD. Everybody was rapping along to classics and what not.... Electric Relaxation, Flava In Ya Ear, Deja Vu, Big Poppa, TROY, It's All About the Benjamins, I Wish, Gin and Juice, Protect Ya Neck, California Love.... etc. Then I took a quick nap in the basement as they played a couple of video games. I think they one was called 1942 while the other was called Nazi Zombies or something haha. And now, I'm home. Farewell!

Triple-Double... NOT!

NBA subtracts rebound from LeBron's triple-double
By Official Release Posted Feb 6 2009 4:02PM

NEW YORK -- The NBA announced today that a statistical error was made during the Cleveland Cavaliers-New York Knicks game on Feb. 4 at Madison Square Garden.
Cavaliers forward LeBron James was incorrectly credited with a rebound with 39.3 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter that should have been awarded to Cleveland forward Ben Wallace. Due to the correction, James finished Wednesday's game with nine rebounds -- one rebound short of a triple-double -- while Wallace ended with two rebounds.

Thanks, Nikki. I never thought of looking up the meaning of my name before, but Nikki did.

It turns out my name means "the Lord is my God."

Coooooool! I'm really proud now. I used to be insecure of my name because of it's similarity to Allison. But now, it's pretty kick ass haha.

Lykke Li is the Truth...

Lykke Li - "I'm Good, I'm Gone"

This one isn't the official video, but it's cool nonetheless.

I love her album. It's called "Youth Novels." Dope album, dope videos. I know I'm late, but whatever. I know there has to be someone out there that's later than I am haha. Enjoy!

Short People...

This song is too damn funny.

Summit...

It is now 4:58A.M. I got home about 10 minutes ago. The summit ended abruptly at 6P.M.
-I left about 24 hours ago. I got to Joe's about about 5:45 to get my health mix. I started feeling sober again at about 4AM yesterday, so I'm thankful it didn't last that long.
-A trip that was supposed to take 4 and a half hours back and forth ended up being 8 hours. I had to take Francesca to Katrina's house which was a massive detour.
-It should've been 260 miles altogether back and forth, but I ended up driving 370 miles today. Damn it! I used up one whole gas tank and a little extra.
-My car is so freakin' messy because the kids eating in there and just leaving crap. Act like I don't care about my car or something! Respect! Sheesh.

As for the summit:
-It was cool seeing people I hadn't seen in a while.
-Vince and Jeryl are cute together haha. I hope you don't read that, dude. Gay!
-I'm feelin' the assembly and household books they got cooked up. Put me in for an order.
-Pre-Con got moved to May 30th. That's my birthday. That means I'll have to delay Disney World and San Diego for a day.
-I was so tired from not sleeping the night before. Thankfully, I got some sleep in the right corner of the room behind the chairs. Thanks, Kuya Mickey, for the heads up.
-"It only takes one." - Vince
-My group was a trip.... mostly Matt, Rommel, and Kirk. I damn near lost it way too many times. That girl Kim from DE/PA was like you're really annoyed huh? Yes, yes I am.
-I got good advice from a couple of people regarding what I should do with a certain brother. I'm on it!
-Mark and AJ, I'm really thankful for them coming out to the summit. They could've been elsewhere that day, but instead they chose to accept the invitation to lead and be a part of something great. Thanks! They're my ticket out! Just kidding haha. I got a couple years left in me.
-Involve ourselves with a parish.
-Involving family in events is really important. But unfortunately for me, my parents are in FFL, so it's not gonna work out haha.
-Delaware is dead! I thought Manassas was bad haha.
-We left so abruptly... not appreciated.
-I'm guilty of the coffee. Woops!

Black-Metallic Silver...

I finally picked these up today. I'm very happy with the trade. I let my Neon AM 95's go. I barely wore them because they just didn't look right on me. They were way too narrow. But yeah, finally! I passed on these when they came out to buy the Royal Foamposite One instead. Better pics will come at a later time.

First Snow Day of '09... in Manassas at least

Woops, I was supposed to rest today. This damn snow day threw me off, so I ended up running again. Oh well, it's perfect. I have no time because of school tomorrow, so that'll be my rest day. Anyway, here I am 4 1/2 weeks in:

Speaking of the snow day, I was so surprised when I woke up. If ya'll remember from pictures of when I first repainted my room, my bed is right by my window. So, I looked outside my window half asleep, and to my surprise, snow was falling to the ground real heavily in addition to the snow that was already packed onto the ground. I was pretty sure there was no school until I looked online. Then, at around 1:45, I looked at my Gmail. My professor for HEAL 110 sent us an e-mail that she talked to the department head and determined that it was in the best interest of everyone to stay home today because of road conditions. I couldn't care less since I only live 7-8 minutes from the PW campus. But yeah, I was happy with that since my brother went out to the supermarket while I looked after the kids. I would've been late to class because he took a while, so thank God class was cancelled.

Some pics of the kids playing:
Before going outside. Timmy adores his kuya, for real.

Selwyn trying to taste the snow.

Timmy in front of my brother's car.

The boys in the culdesac.

Lastly, Jayden is doing well. She's always so cute all bundled up. My brother got this perfect picture of her on the couch. She was smiling HARD in her sleep. So cute! I'm vying for that number 1 spot as far as being the godfather. But I doubt I'll be ninong since my sister-in-law is the first amongst her siblings to have a child. So her brother will probably be the ninong. Boo!

A Rosary A Day Keeps D'Evils Away...

That's all I gotta say. I feel so good afterward. Thanks, Nikki!

Oh... and week 5 started today. All I gotta say is wow. I started this whole thing 4 weeks ago running at 6mph with 6 sprint intervals being winded. Now, I'm running at 8-8.3mph with 10 sprint intervals being only slightly tired. I'm feelin' good. GK marathon? Hmm.....

2 inches off the waist, baby!

Week 4...

I was too lazy to post about week 3 and I had too many things going on, which was a good thing.

On Monday, I went with Nikki to UMD's gym. There were so many different type of people there. I wanted to play ball and shoot around, but all courts were accounted for. So, I just ran on the track. I did about 2 miles. I mixed in some interval in there, but I couldn't really regulate my times, so I can't count it officially into my regimen. The rest of the week was very challenging though. During week 1 and week 2, I ran at about 6 mph. This week, I ran at about 7.5 mph and my rest periods were only 30 seconds. I feel like passing out after each session, but I'm seeing results. My clothes fit great, and adults have commented me as well as a few of my peers. Woohoo!

So, week 4 starts tomorrow. It's the same as week 3, but instead of 6 rounds of sprinting and resting, I'm doing 8 rounds of sprinting and resting. Hopefully, I'll have enough stamina to be able to give me all for all 8 rounds. My nutrition is also doing better. I'm eating more often with smaller portions. I've cut out soda completely as well as my old habit of eating random snacks here and there that never filled me up, but I'm sure those fats added up. I'm still keeping my sodium low. I just gotta eat more polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats. So, I need to eat stuff like cashews, almonds, avocado, corn, soybean. I didn't know seeds and nuts were so good for the body. I'm also contemplating on buying one of those bottles that have like omega 3 fish oil pills. I don't know what natural way I could consume that, so yeah, I might buy that bottle. Who knows.

Anyway, here's week 4. Thanks to http://losebellyfat.intervaltraining.net/Losebellyfat4/

Running Statistics after 3 weeks:

Running is basically my main even for my days now haha.

Anyway, what did I do this week... Hmm..
-Thursday was Timmy's 3rd birthday. We had a birthday party for him today. That was fun even though none of my own friends came. Well, that's because I didn't invite anyone haha. Most of them are in Vegas or I knew they already had plans. I wanted Nikki to go, but it was Aya's birthday today.
-I visited the camp Saturday night with Marion. Good seeing that dude again.
-I went to the mall with Nikki on Friday and spent time with her. I didn't complain at the girly stores as much, so I was kinda proud of that. That night, I visited the camp to help Jon with Talk 4. Then I ended up staying even longer to lend my words to the other speakers. It was cool, I felt useful and wise haha.
-On Tuesday, I went to CP to give Nikki some company. I was supposed to go to the shrine with everyone, but I had to find a place that cashed MoneyGrams. I went to like 2 CVS's and 2 Shoppers. None of those bastards cashed them like the website said. What a waste! I ended up having to drive back down to Clinton and go to that Wal-Mart. They finally cashed it for me. Then, I wrapped up the XII's in my car and shipped them off. I wrapped them up real crappy, too haha. It was embarassing giving it to the USPS person. Oh well, I made $150 off of that. At the end of it all, I still drove back up to CP and went to the shrine for mass. That day was way too much driving. Hot damn.

That's all that I can think of. Farewell, bloggers!

NFL Playoffs...

AFC
Dolphins vs. Ravens - Ravens
Colts vs. Chargers - Chargers

NFC
Cardinals vs. Falcons - Cardinals
Eagles vs. Vikings - Eagles

4-0!

AFC
Ravens vs. Titans - Ravens
Chargers vs. Steelers - Chargers

NFC
Cardinals vs. Panthers - Panthers
Eagles vs. Giants - Eagles

6-2 : ( I had an impressive week 1, but this week, I messed up my picks. Oh well, 6-2 is still good. Somehow, I just knew the Giants would choke away. The Cardinals game really threw me off though. I thought them missing Anquan would be a big deal plus the Panthers had a sick running game. Also, I thought the Chargers would pull off another upset, but I guess they couldn't in that cold and against the number 1 defense. Thankfully, the Ravens saved me and won.

AFC
Ravens vs. Chargers - Ravens

NFC
Eagles vs. Panthers - Eagles

?

AFC
All bird Super Bowl... My prediction is that the Eagles will come out on top.

Hello, Week Two...

Taken from: http://losebellyfat.intervaltraining.net/Losebellyfat2/

Anyway, I started week 2 today. I ate within my Resting Metabolic Rate which is about 1,900 calories and I cut down on my sugar intake. I could already see how much faster I'm running. I don't get tired as quickly either. I ran for only 18 minutes today as opposed to last week's 20 minute sessions. Interestingly enough, I lost 22 more calories and 7 more fat calories in running for a shorter period of time and distance today than I did last week. The intensity truly did make a difference. Notice that last week, I was only supposed to sprint at intensity 7. Today, it was at intensity 9, plus there was 30 seconds less resting time after each sprint.

End of Interval Training Week 1...

Today marked the end of week 1 for me. It was very difficult the first day, but on the second and third days, I was less out of breath during the rest periods. Also, I was supposed to rest today, but I was feeling really good about myself, so I cheated and did some minor interval running. I did less sets but higher intensity.

During the days in between the interval running, I just did some speed walking as a warm up and cool down. Then I did some light jogging (around 4 mph) the rest of the time. That's why it took me 35 minutes just to complete it. That's treadmill time, so it's mad inflated. I can do 2 miles on the track in half the time.

Click on it for a better view.

On to week 2 tomorrow!

Scrabble...

I just had to share this beast moment.

Here are two of my words back to back. Boy was I lucky.

STOPPING = 89 points
QUITTING (using the G from STOPPING) = 104 points
