Ten Favorite Moments of 2008...

I intended this to be my ten favorite moments of the year, but I couldn't decide on just 10. I think 15 is good. It'll just be pictures for now. The text will come later when I have more energy. If you read this after I edit, then it won't make sense haha. Anyway, here they are...

1. First Date (September 27th)

I definitely forgot to wear a belt. Woops.

Here's the cutest creature in the world... Oh, and the butterflies.

2. San Diego (August 20th)

Double date and La Jolla action.

I'll be back one day.

3. New York with Samer (November 20-23)
No pictures, womp womp.

4. Discovery Camp (October 17-19)

The service team minus a few.

There's one thing missing in this picture... me next to my nubian ebony queen.

And the Oscar goes to...

5. Kids Village (August 15-17)

Apple sauce tasting like some dookie.

Step up the spelling, Oyo.

6. Soccer In The Rain (Mid-summer, I suppose)
If I had pictures for this, then I probably would've been electrocuted.

7. My 21st Birthday Party (June 7th)

How's everybody gonna play me like that? : /

8. Fune Returns ; National Harbor (September 9th)

Still waiting on that call from Playgirl.

Bring out the cards.

9. Christmas Eve (December 24th)

Nikon FTW? Yes.

The hell? An adapter?

Duf? A busted ass cell phone?

Ay nako. Old ass shirts?... in a Spalding shoe box?

Nope, digital frame, homie.

10. Christmas Tree Lighting at National Harbor (November 28th)

Eating on top of a fridge outside.

Thanks for the picture, Nik.

Honorable Mention
11. Medieval Times (June 13th)

Farewell, Lani!

12. Thanksgiving Dinner at Alan's (November 25th)

Sound the feasting horns!

Here I go revealing the bomb ass pot roast that Nikki concocted.

13. July 4th ; The MVP is Here (July 4th)

We killed it! I was on fire that game. Who knew? After all those gay, feminine, not man enough jokes... who knew?

14. Nationals Game (June 22nd)

They got their ass whooped, but hey the tix were free.

15. Shutting Up North (July 25th)

This was very satisfying kicking that ass. I believe we won 4 games to 1. A couple of them being blowouts. It was fun giving that spanking after they talked all that trash.

Oasis...

He called Jay-Z out, but F it. I still love their music haha. Anyway, this song has no meaning. I just heard it in a movie I was watching and I googled its soundtrack. So yeah, here it is:

Oasis - Stop Crying Your Heart Out

Screw it, I'll just post some of their other songs, too.

  6. Madagascar 2
  7. Ghost Town
  8. Jumper
  9. Wanted
  10. Be Kind Rewind
Top 10 Pick Ups of 2008 (in order):

1. Air Penny II. Of course my favorite shoe of all time would be my favorite pick-up... especially at 40% off. Thanks, Ant!

2. Air Jordan III CDP. I'm glad I got to get a pair of these. I overpaid, but oh well! I've paid under retail waaaaaaaay more than I've paid retail.

3. Air Jordan VIII. The sockliner on these are oh so comfy. Plus, you can't go wrong with the straps and tongue patch. Tinker knew what he was doing. This is the only pair that I pad resell prices for. I got them from Vince L. for $160.

4. Air Trainer II. I wore these the majority of the time when I was out in Cali. It was these and the Wallabees. I only brought two pairs out there. These looked good with everything and were also very comfortable. $70 at the outlet while Elite at the same time was still selling them for $125.

5. Nike Blazer. These are sentimental because they were a gift from Nikki. They retailed for $105, but were on sale at URBN.com for $40. Great steal! They also became very comfy once I took them out of the box and just let them sit in a natural setting. I guess the sun and heat warmed up the soles.

6. Air Max 95. I paid retail for these from Downtown Locker Room at St. Charles. They were the last pair and I didn't see them in any other stores. Love these joints. I had to replace the beat pair that I sold to Marion a few years back. These were $140. Gah!

7. Air Pippen. Mmm. I just love these colors together. My brother had these in the white/navy colorway when we were kids. I was so jealous back then. Again, Ant hooked these up with the swoosh account. 40% off.

8. Flightposite. I like the gold and eggplant colorways more, but I just would not be able to wear those. The color is a bit much... not that these shoes are any more subtle haha. I bought these with the Pippens. 40% off also. The fit on these is so awesome. Can't go wrong with -posite.

9. Zapato del Barco. This is my most worn pair of shoes. They go great with everything and are very comfy. I wore these and the Wallabees on my NY mini-vacay. Mmm. Vans never disappoint.

10. Chukka Low. I won't lie. I bit Matt on these. I saw him wearing them when I was out in San Diego. I was like wow, those look great with dark denim which is what I primarily wear. They were also very comfy and came at a great price at the Vans store in Fair Oaks. They also go well with just about any top. Go Vans!

Collection Day...

These aren't all the pictures yet. I still have to organize them and pick out which pictures turned out all right. But yeah, this is my boy's collection. He has 190+ pairs in these pictures, but he has like 20 more on the floor to the left of where I was taking pictures at and even more in his room upstairs. I did all of the box work in making sure the boxes were the same height, which was so much damn work! It was like a jigsaw puzzle. Then, I also made the last row two boxes lower because I just had this feeling that if we made it too high, we wouldn't even get to reach the floor. It was a good decision because we ended up with the perfect amount of boxes to end with a one-box-high stack on the last row and then the floor level following that. So, in short, I'm a mathematical genius. Just kidding. Enjoy the pictures.

Plus, a video:

1/2 Cent...

I can't wait for this hybrid/fusion to come out. $190, though! This is how you make a hybrid shoe. Take notes, JB. Anyway, I'm glad they made this shoe for my second favorite player and shoe line of all time.

A sheep in wolves clothing...

So, after my exam this morning, I proceeded to walk to my car. This black guy that was 20 years old as I later found out rode his bike past me. After riding about another 30 feet, he made a U-turn and stopped in front of me. At this point, I was like "Aww shit"... in my head. He tells me, "Yo, whattup, I got a proposition for you." I say, "Yeah, what's that?" He replies, "I'll give you $40 right now to take me to Burke Road because I have to get something authenticated for my aunt in 20 minutes." I know the area and I know that it's impossible to get to Burke Road via bike in 20 minutes. It was 16 minutes just driving there. I don't know exactly if he used the word authenticated, but I just know it was some paper work.

Anyway, at this point, my face is like a deer in headlights as I think to myself that I'm about to get shot the hell up because this cat has some grungy ass jeans, a big ass hoody, and on top of that was one of them flight jackets. His was olive. Oh, and he had some ashy ass knuckles. I was like man, this cat might be homeless and might try to jack me right now. Then, at that moment, some lady drives by and asks me where Innovation Hall was. I told the guy "Hold on." Then, I told the lady how to get there and that parking in lot A was free today, so it was cool. So, she drives away, and I get back to the dude. I saved myself about 20 seconds thanks to the lady so that I could think about the potential consequences. Somehow, I was able to think about these things and answer the lady at the same time.

But yeah, I end up telling the guy, "Look here, F off!" Just kidding, folks haha. I told him, "Look, you don't have to pay me the $40. I can take you. That's along my route anyway. What are we gonna do with your bike though?" He tells me, "Could we put it in your car? This is my homie's bike, so I don't just want to leave it here." I agree and say, "Okay, that's fine. Hopefully it can fit in my car because I got a small ass car. It's a hatchback." So, as we're walking to my car, he introduces himself. He tells me his name is Noel. Likewise, I introduce myself to him. I ask him if he dorms at GMU. He said that he hadn't even started going to college yet, but he should be a sophomore right now. He also told me that he was really into basketball in high school and watched the GMU basketball team all the time and wanted to play for the school, "but some things in life just don't work out the way we want them to." I said, "Yeah, man. No doubt." Then he says, "Yo, I'm really surprised and thankful that you're doing this. Many people wouldn't have even glanced my way because of the clothes that I'm wearing and because I'm young. I swear I'm not a trouble-maker or anything. I'm like a sheep in wolves clothing." I told him, "I'm different from most people. I have faith in humanity and give people my trust until they lose it unlike other people who make you earn their trust." He proceeded to nod at that.

Finally, we got to my car. I suddenly remembered that I could flatten my backseats, so that helped a lot. I shoved all of my shoes, football, basketball, and books out of the way to make space for his bike. I had to push the passenger seat all the way up in order to fit the bike. Even then, my hatch wouldn't close. He was like why don't we just leave it open? I said, "Na, all my stuff will fall out." So, I asked him if he could sit in the open area and just pull my hatch semi-closed until we got to the place. Thank God for the little handle on the inside of my hatch because that made it easier for him to keep it closed. The whole ride, we were talking about the music that was playing (Clipse - 'Til the Casket Drops Mixtape), why they weren't selling, and how most rappers spit stuff that they don't live. Of course, it's entertainment. Anyway, he told me that he made music, too. I asked him, "Do you produce? Or rap?" He said, "Oh I rap. I've made a few beats, too, but I mostly rap." He told me he had a song about a lesbian girlfriend haha. He was like, "Yeah, she's one of them dominant types that be dressing like a dude, but her body is fine though." I was rollin' from that. I was like "Good shit, man." During this whole time, he'd give me directions and what streets to look out for next.

Near the end of our ride, he thanked me again and told me how much of a blessing it was for him and how much he appreciated it. I told him, "Don't sweat it, man. I'm just here to help in any oppurtunity that God puts in front of me. If I'm helping someone, I know he won't put me in any sort of danger, and I'll be rewarded someday for being faithful." I couldn't believe myself what was coming out of my mouth. I usually have to think hours about that type of stuff like I do before a talk for youth. I usually gotta prepare like crazy, but I guess that's what happens when you speak from the heart. So, I'm hoping, if that guy wasn't close with God before, I helped to light a fire in his heart today that showed that there is hope in people as long as they have love for God. If he didn't have a relationship with God before, hopefully after displaying my faithfulness today, he'll develop a relationship with God. I can only pray.

Anyway, once I dropped him off, I helped him get his bike out of my trunk and dapped him up and wished him safety on his way back. Oh yeah, I asked him if he needed a ride back home, but he said I had already done enough. He then asked me for my number since we might be on campus at the same time and he can give me a sample CD of his music haha. He ended up not having his phone though, so I got his number instead. I texted him a few minutes ago to make sure that he got back safely. He said that he did and thanked me again. I'm happy that I got to help that dude today. It taught me not to judge anyone by how they look like ever again. There's good present in everybody.

What To Do With My Extra Second?...

2008 Will Be Just a Second Longer

On Dec. 31 this year, your day will be just a second longer.

Like the more well-known time adjustment, the leap year, a "leap second" is tacked on to clocks every so often to keep them correct.

source: http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20081208/sc_livescience/2008willbejustasecondlonger

Hmm, what should I do with my extra second?
-smile
-say I love you to my parents
-hold the door open for someone an extra second to make sure they really get a hold of it
-wait an extra second to make sure someone can get out of their parking spot better
-wait an extra second to make sure that Nikki's has really hung up the phone haha
-wait an extra second to make sure that I don't slam the door on Nikki's leg
-I really can't think of anything clever that I could do in one second, so that's all.

On My Radio...

I'm listening to it as I type. There's some fast cuts on here that aren't all that, but the slow jams he has more than makes up for them. Great music overall that's come to be expected from Musiq.

Wale...

I don't even rep this area like that because the place I live sucks and I'm not from here, but I'm really feelin' this song. It's old, but the video makes it better haha.

Mexecutioner....

Man, what a great fight... for Manny. I've never been that hyped in a fight before. Usually I just sit back and watch, but being with the brothers had me going crazy after the big punches. My favorite line of the night was: "Manny has gradually been reconstructing Oscar's beautiful face." Haha. The interview afterwards was just "aaaaahhhhhhhhh IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII ahhhhhhhhh just ahhhhhhhhh bad."

Anyway, as for my day.
-I had a final at 10:30 AM. I hope I did well. I had like 10 minutes before the test and caught up with my cousin for a little bit. It's the first class we've had together after these 3 1/2 years haha. He's thinking about switching to my major, so that's cool. I'm about one semester ahead, so that made me feel better.
-Christmas party with the youth at Katrina and Ashley's house. It was a lot more fun than I expected. It was a great time actually. Plus, the food was awesome.
-I left the party at 3PM and went to St. Columba for the WOW! GK charity/fundraiser event thingy.
-Right when I got there, Nate asked me if I was gonna make a food run. I was like aight, whatever. Then, I became the errand boy to get Alan, Kiesha, and Nate something to drink and snack on from Starbucks. I didn't mind at all. It was only about 5 minutes away in Rivertowne and they hadn't consumed anything all day, so I was glad I could help. The folks are Starbucks were cool with it, too. I just gave them the piece of paper with the list on it, and they took care of everything. So, I left them a 3 dollar and 41 cents tip.
-When I got there, Nikki did her dance to "Man in the Mirror" which was awesome. I'm so proud of you! : ) What a great job you did.
-Then, we went to Sports Zone real fast to see if they had the black/red I's that I've been wanting. No luck once more. The bums in there had no idea what shoes I was talking about when I asked them. Asses.
-Then, we went back and saw Aya sing. After that, we finally got to leave for the show at Mason. It went by really quickly. It was only 5 pieces. We were done by about 9:10. So, it was only an hour long.
-We went to Dunkin Donuts for a couple of donuts, a solo pizza, and a Milky Way hot chocolate for myself of course.
-We got back to St. Columba to see everyone line dancing at about 10. I got to eat a bit also. Tasty!
-The older heads all left eventually and headed to Joe's house for the fight. Annnnnd, that's my night. What a long ass day it was, but very fun-filled.
-Oh yeah, when I was walking up my damn steps, my foot slipped, and now the webby part of my big toe and the toe next to it is slit open. I was bleeding like hell. Sucks man. That's what I get for not wanting to put my shoes back on after I drove. And, when I slipped, I fell onto my Aqua VIII's, so now those shits are a tad bit scraped up. Damn it!
-Oh well, it was still a fun day though.

Excerpts from my deserted Livejournal...

This was from June 08th 2007:
I drove my 1000th mile in my Yaris. Here are some interesting things. I was wearing my Spiz'ikes. I was listening to Earth, Wind, and Fire - Reasons. I was at Exit 19A on 95 South. The gas price at the gas station that I went to was $2.94. I wanna do this and take pics for every thousandth mile that I drive. I think it would be cool to see how I looked like, gas prices, and music. Yes, I'm weird.
Today, I drove my 48,000th mile. Damn! OD! It's cool though. I've had some great adventures and memories in those miles. NY, NJ, PA, VA Beach, Oxon Hill, Fort Washington, Silver Spring, Arundel, Laurel, Camp Hashawa, Leesburg... and the list goes on.

----------------------------------

This was from August 13th 2007:
Today's gospel was pretty great. Today was only the second time that I've been to St. John's parish, but each time it has been the same priest. He makes himself very approachable and down to Earth by telling real stories from his life and by saying his homily in a chair on the same level as the benches. But yeah, it was about God coming at an hour that we least expect. He told us of the story of the time when his brother and him were alone at their house for a week because their parents went on vacation. So, his brother had this ingenious idea to throw a party each and everyday that his parents were gone. Then the deal was that in order to have the parties, the friends would have to come back and clean up the day before their parents got home. Unfortunately, their parents came home a day early. Then, suprisingly, his mother got mad at him instead of being mad at his brother who planned everything. His mother said, "I expected more from you because more was given to you." That hit me hard. So much is expected from me because I've been so blessed and I've barely had any serious serious problems in life. So, in theory, there should really be nothing holding me back from getting straight A's or from leading CFC-Y VA to its full potential. More is expected from me because God has already given so much to me.

Another great part of his homily was when he told us that as much as God loves us, tomorrow is not promise, 5 months from now is not promised, 20 years from now is not promised. All we have promised is today. All we have promised is this moment that we're living right now. So, why not use that time to prepare ourselves for when the Lord comes at a time when we expect the least. Why should he come home to a dirty room? When he comes to my house, I better have everything in order. My closet better not have any skeletons in it, and my whole house had better be pristine. Since all we have promised is right now, we must be greatful for each moment. We must live each moment like it's our last moment to impress God and to please God. We must love one another like it's our last moment to tell them that we care for them. We must pray as hard as we can because you never know if it's the last time that you can pray. We must worship with our full hearts, minds, and souls as much as we can because you never know if it's your last time to worship the Lord. The priest really relayed the message well that we should be greatful for the day that we're having no matter how it's going. We're breathing and we're alive!
----------------------------------

Also from August 13th 2007:

Anyway, ever since conference in New Jersey, there has been a very noticeable rise in people's interest in brotherhood, sisterhood, and accountability. Unfortunately, some people take it waaaaaaay too seriously.

I don't even know where to start. I have an easy time brainstorming ideas, but I really suck at organizing them into an argument.

Sometimes, people just take YFC seriously. Sure, go ahead and take your prayer, service, and love seriously. I'll give your much respect for doing that with all your heart and soul. But damn, sometimes people need to chill out with that whole cliquishness and exclusiveness stuff. I hate being called out and being asked "how come you didn't invite me to that one thing? blah blah blah." There are several answers.

1) I don't wanna be THAT guy that invites friends to something that I didn't plan.
2) Sometimes people just need "us" time. Sometimes I just wanna have lunch with one person; be it A, Tims, KB, Niks, or any other friend. Do you really expect to be invited to every event in my life? Every time I have lunch with someone in YFC? Let me live!
3) Sometimes people just wanna be with others that they've grown closer to than others. It's a natural thing for people to be closer with others than they are with you. We're all different people. Thus, we all have different preferences in who we want as our close close friends. Sure I got love for you and give you respect equally as the next person, but that damn sure doesn't mean that I'm giddy with excitement to hang out with you.
4) Sometimes people just wanna hang out with people more their age.
5) You don't expect me to invite all of YFC to hang out everytime I go out do you? If that was the case, we'd look like some freakin' tourists everywhere we went. Sometimes, we just need hang out time with our people. That's like a brand new member bitching and complaining why they didn't get to go to the leader's retreat. People naturally just need time to hang out with people that share common interests.
6) I respect and love that you want to bond with brothers and sisters a lot, but there's a proper time and place for that.
----------------------------------

This was from June 04th 2008:
Last night, myself, ikeeyou, Alan, Gino, joeschmo, Nate, and Carlo played soccer in the rain. It was the funnest game I've ever been a part of. It was pouring and thundering, but we still went at it. The teams were me, joeschmo, and Nate on one team while the other 4 were on another team. We won handily, 5-0. Yay! It felt official sliding in the grass and hustling and all that jazz. I had never been a fan of soccer until recently when they started getting into it. The first time I played at Tantallon, I was reaaaaaaaaaaally bad. But, last night was like my 3rd or 4th time playing with them, and I could honestly say that I've improved. The first part of the action was pretty lame because they were just playing wiffle ball. I was like yo I did not drive an hour and a half for this BS. So bored and nobody wanted to even play football at least. So, I was a little agitated with that. Then when we were about to play soccer, it started raining. I thought it was a wrap until Alan arrived right in the nick of time and ran to the field yelling "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Let's play!" I guess he had just come from work or something and had been waiting all day to play. I'm glad he convinced us to stay because it was a lot of fun.

This was from July 17, 2008:
Bitch-ass-ness... Ok ok, I know I had my moments of bitch-ass-ness, but these dudes nowadays are on facebook and AIM updating their damn profiles begging for attention like some bitches. Being all poetic and crap talking about I wish I could just fly away, why am I fooling myself, she'll never like me, i had the best time but this won't last. Bullshit like that. EVERY night. Like right now, it's "i'm pathetic...im so frickin awkward...*sigh*think nothing of anything....*sigh*." Bitch! Grow a dick, some balls, and a backbone for once. Man. Or at least get some friends that you can call up to talk about that stuff with. Don't just be updating us with your miserable love life every chance you get. Yes, I can ignore it, but not when you shove it in my face every damn night. These dudes or perhaps just this guy is so damn feminine that it's disgusting. I used to think I was on the womanly side cuz I liked my things clean and I got lots of shoes haha, but this dude is something else.

Confession, Mass, Ben's Chili Bowl, and Dancing

Today was filled with good times. Thank you Alan, Kiesha, and Nikki mostly... and Joe at the very end haha.

-Went to confession at the Shrine at around 11:45. They usually end at noon, but the priests kept going until everyone was done in line. We should've picked the right side because the cats on the left side were taking FOREVER. They must've been in there for 20 minutes. We barely made it to mass. Thank God we were done right on time. Alan was already in the pews, then I saw him and sat next to him. Then, Niks came, and then finally Kiesha after she was done with confession.
-Then we went to Ben's Chili Bowl on U Street. It was pretty near Marvin's. I got myself a chili cheeseburger for $5. It was definitely worth it. Alan got the same thing. Niks got a small chili, while Kiesha got cheese fries since she's fasting meat until this Sunday.
-Then, we all caught the itis. Horrible! Damn near died swerving on the road, seriously.
-We all went to Nik's Greenbelt house to chill for a bit and make fun of everything on TV.
-Then we all went to the UMD campus to the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. Nikki got herself some studio time to practice for the WOW GK show on Saturday at St. Columba.
-It went pretty well. She had her laptop with the video and song playing but she had a hard time copying the routine with the video facing her. Soooo, my genius self pointed the laptop to the big mirrors and then everything worked out. I felt really useful right about then.
-Nik was dancing the MJ's Man In The Mirror.
-One time, we turned the lights off and it was just the red heater lighting up top shining down on us, so we decided to shoot something in that lighting. I chose "Welcome to Heartbreak" as the song. It turned out pretty damn funny. If not, then all I gotta say is you had to be there.

The following are pictures from the day:
Structures. Yay!

No clue what the hell I was looking at over yonder.

Niks on the see-saw. I tried to get on, but the damn thing dug into my thigh.

Walking down the alley to Ben's Chili Bowl.

At the studio. Kiesha on the far left. Alan browsing Giles Norway I think. Niks doing some sort of stretching or just being cute... one or the other.

Here goes a video I took of Alan and Nikki doing some interpretive dancing. Of course, Alan stole the show haha.

After only about 30 minutes of practicing and trying to learn some moves, Nikki already had it 99% down. Good stuff. I particularly like Alan randomly swimming at the beginning of the video.

Universal Mind Control...

Next on the list...

It's only 10 songs, but I'm sure they'll be quality just like Be and Finding Forever had.

01. Universal Mind Control
02. Punch Drunk Love (Feat. Kanye West)
03. Make My Day (Feat. Cee-Lo Green)
04. Sex 4 Sugar
05. Announcement (Feat. Pharrell Williams)
06. Gladiator
07. Changes
08. Inhale

In 20 years....

... Chicago will be making a D. Rose statue right next to MJ. Kidding. But still, kid is the truth. How am I older than this cat? He had Andre Miller sitting like a Native American from this crossover.
